Trauma Responsive Care focuses on understanding trauma and its impact on the children, families, and communities we serve. The training will provide foundational knowledge about complex trauma, its effect on the developing brain, resiliency, and behavior. Also included will be information on the Adverse Childhood Experiences study, along with practical strategies for working effectively with children and adults impacted by trauma. We will also focus on self-care and conclude with possible next steps. It is provided free of charge by Columbus Public Health’s CARE Coalition. A light lunch will be provided. Our facilitator is Janet George, Partner Engagement Manager for United Way of Central Ohio’s early childhood initiative, Columbus & Franklin County Kids. She is a certified Trauma Responsive Care Trainer and Certified Community Health Worker.
