Who we are

Established in 1982, COMPASS (Congregational Outreach Ministries Program of Assistance & Social Service) is a collaboration involving numerous area churches and other community groups. Our goal is to provide a “hand-up” to those in need.

Our Vision

Our vision is to share self-sufficiency skills and provide emergency assistance to individuals willing to invest in themselves. COMPASS provides services to prevent homelessness and stall evictions, allowing families to remain in their homes. We also refer individuals and families to other agencies within the community.

COMPASS does not provide assistance for utility bills in default with the gas or electric company or for tenants scheduled to be evicted within the next 2 business days. Be sure to read these qualifications prior to calling or coming to the office for service. Please note there is no guarantee of assistance.

COMPASS is a site for Neighbor to Neighbor applications for AEP customers only.  To see if you are eligible to apply, click here. We also process PRC applications for Job and Family Services. To see if you are eligible to apply for PRC, click here.

We are able to provide this valuable community service because of the generous support of our donors. If you would like to contribute to COMPASS, please follow the link below. Thank you!
