Youth at BSPC

Broad Street Presbyterian Church’s youth ministry is a welcoming space where middle and high school youth can relax, connect with peers, and engage with caring adults. It provides a supportive environment for processing world events through a faith-based perspective. The youth group participates in various activities, including service projects often coordinated with the Broad Street Food Pantry.

Youth Group seasonally meets after worship for lunch and conversation. But the most formative experiences are on our overnight experiences from local retreats longer trips to camps like Massanetta and Montreat and even further trips to visit our global mission partners in Peru and Mexico.

Confirmation is a special time set apart for 7th and 8th graders to dive deeper into what their faith means to them and reflect on their beliefs and the beliefs of the Christian faith.

Broad Street Presbyterian Church is committed to being inclusive and welcoming to all youth, ensuring everyone feels valued and supported.

Summer of Service:

Faith in Action, Together. ☀️🫶🏼🧡

This summer, we’re teaming up with youth from a few local churches for something special—a Summer of Service! We’ll roll up our sleeves, get our hands a little dirty, and work side-by-side to love our neighbors. We’re living out our faith in real, tangible ways. Even better? We’re doing it together. These shared experiences will help us build friendships, deepen our compassion, and remind us that the church is bigger than just one building. Come ready to serve. Stay for the joy. Let’s make this a summer to remember.

Food Pantry Storytelling Day. 🥪
Wednesday, June 25 | 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Our Food Pantry will host a Storytelling Day—a chance for shoppers to enjoy a snack or light lunch and, if they choose, share their stories. With permission, some stories will be recorded on video or written down to build a library of real-life experiences. We will shop, record, shelf items and lots of Food Pantry fun as well as have lunch together afterwards.

Leveling the Playing Field. 🏈
July – Sign Up Later
We’ll head to Leveling the Playing Field, an amazing nonprofit that collects and redistributes sporting equipment to under-resourced communities. A young local leader makes it fun and meaningful! We’ll spend a two-hour shift organizing gear, then head to a nearby Salvadorian restaurant for pupusas—delicious and a great way to try something new.

Gleaning Corn & Pool Party. 🌽
Friday, August 8 | 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
As a sweet end to summer, we’ll head to Jordi’s family farm north of town to take part in the biblical practice of gleaning—gathering leftover crops from the field to share with those in need. As described in Leviticus 19:9–10, gleaning is an ancient way of caring for the hungry and respecting the land.

We’ll pick corn that would otherwise go unused and donate it to our Food Pantry to feed our neighbors. After our good work in the field, we’ll cool off with a pool party and lunch to celebrate summer and community!
