This past week the weather felt like it had a personal vendetta against residents of Central Ohio. The last few days we have experienced freezing temperatures, rain, snow, sleet, and gale-force winds.
I am ready for spring. At this point, I’m willing to skip spring altogether and land right into the beautiful lap of summer! Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to climb into the 80s this weekend and I can’t wait!
It feels like we have been waiting for this summer for about two years. Many of us have plans. To go out of town. Take vacations. Attend weddings and reunions. Visit family and friends.
It’s time to take a breath. Slow down. Take stock. Breathe deeply. Soak in the sun. Take walks. Read books. Share meals with friends.
*Beginning May 1, I plan to do all of those things; I am taking a three-month sabbatical. I am so grateful for this gift of time and perspective.
Jesus is coming with me on my sabbatical. Literally. I have a small cut-out figure of Jesus that I plan to take with me wherever I go this summer. It’s the best thing about Jesus. We can take him wherever we go! This image of Jesus will be a reminder of God’s love for the world and God’s care for all of us while we are apart from one another.
What are your summer plans? How do you plan on taking Jesus with you this summer?

Thanks Pete and Janet!
Best wishes, Amy! Hoping you find lots and lots of rest, contemplation, and fun. I’m getting through my busy days by planning a trip to Cedar Point in August and a cruise in December. I always need something to look forward to but also try to just enjoy the simple daily things as well.
You deserve the time Covid has been tough for the ministry
Thanks Don!
Amy, I was able to take a sabbatical in my last couple of years as a non-profit CEO. It was a remarkable experience, untethered (for the most part) from the pressing and overarching concerns of day to day existence and leadership. I hope your time will be well spent and you will return refreshed and invigorated!
Amy, this three month sabbatical will have you smiling the rest of the year and then some. You are so deserving and we share your anticipation and excitement. The Briggs’

Amy, here’s hoping you find the rest and solitude you are seeking. You have been our rock and salvation for many years. Thank you from me and sharing your excitement.
Hopefully we’ll be smack dab in the lap of summer awaiting your return. Enjoy your time away. See you in 3.
Best wishes to you as you go on sabbatical. Well deserved, and I hope you are invigorated by your time away and your research. A great privilege, and I hope it will be all and more of what you hope! Enjoy!
Hi Amy,
