Do you need a feel good story?

Of course you do, we all do!

Here are a few from around Broad Street these days.

Story 1 –

Last summer, a youth group from North Canton Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) came to Columbus on a mission trip and volunteered in our Food Pantry as part of their time here.  The youth noticed the struggles of the “walkers” in the Food Pantry.  “Walkers” often have to leave some food behind because they can’t carry it all home or on the bus with just their two hands.  So their youth group went home and this fall held a Luggage Drive.  They collected over 100 suitcases, duffle bags, and durable reuseable shopping bags.  Then on Sunday, December 1, the youth and their leader woke up early to drive down to Columbus and join us in worship and volunteered alongside us to make cookie bags and stayed for a few more projects in the Food Pantry.  We are grateful for this partnership and how God connects us in the world!  Thank you North Canton CC Youth!

Story 2 –

Our staff gathered for our monthly in-person time together but, instead of our usual business, we opted to listen to Christmas music and work together on a service project for the Food Pantry, making holiday treat bags for children in the Food Pantry.  There as dancing, joking and mutual appreciation of being colleagues and teammates here at BSPC.

Story 3 –

Let us not forget Thanksgiving was less than a month ago and here at Church, we were able to distribute 625 meals.  588 were given out over a 2-hour period and the remaining 37 were distributed the next day in the Food Pantry.  Ask any volunteer at the event, it is one of their favorite activities of the year at BSPC.

And we could go on and on with stories of Amy Miracle showing up and teaching the youth group to fish at our youth retreat, the 15 BSPC elementary kids that volunteered on their day off school in the Food Pantry, how the youth group helped Karl Wetherholt bring up the large Christmas Tree, how many gifts were purchased on behalf of incarcerated parents through Angel Tree and more and more and more.  While sometimes the world feels dark, remember to look for Christ’s light in the darkness this season.  There is joy, peace and hope amidst us.
